Hosted by Christie Brinkley and John Schneider and held at the Waldorf Astoria on the eve of the General Assembly, the event featured moving messages from UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon delivered by Under Secretary General Kiyotaka Akasaka and a keynote address by Under Secretary General for Least Developed Countries Cheick Sidi Diarra with entertainment by a cross section of Grammy artists such as Gloria Gaynor. One of the many highlights included a special moving presentation by Turkish Airlines’ President Temel Ketid. Ambassadors, Ministers and Foreign Secretaries from more than 50 nations joined with UN leadership in celebrating the recognition given to the MDG Award recipients, including the Humanitarian Recipient, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.
