About Us

The mission of the MDG Awards Committee is three fold:

To focus a global spotlight on the efforts being made to achieve the MDGs by individuals, governments and civil society and to recognize outstanding achievements in those efforts.

To spur the global community and governments to work to achieve the goals through educational programs and partnership events.

To raise the visibility of worthy local projects that despite their hard works and success are not receiving the visibility to which they are entitled and to support these projects with funding raised with the help of our underwriters, members and donors.

The MDG Awards Committee is a not for profit organization whose mission is to support the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals(MDGs), to disseminate information on the MDGs to the wider public, and to recognize the contributions of a wide variety of stakeholders in the common cause of reaching the MDGs by the target date of 2015. Although Government Award Recipients are determined in consultation with UN Agencies and experts, among others, the MDG Awards are not official awards of the United Nations.
