One Day to Save a Life
Your Solution Can Help Guide a Nation
Help The United Nations and Governments Implement a Solution that will have immediate impact
Purpose:
The mission of One Day to Save a Life is to review a problem facing a village or small town in a developing country and via a round table discussion and discussion between tables develop a solution that will be implemented by the table participants with the assistance of the UN and Government officials at each table.
Facilitator:
The event is facilitated by a celebrity recognized for leadership in community and humanitarian activities.
The Round Tables:
There are eight round tables, with seating for ten. Eight area participants plus a UN and Government participant. Each roundtable is given a different problem to solve that impacts their community or a village in another country. The problem represents in microcosm a larger problem. Participants, through interaction at their table and interaction between tables will develop and help implement a solution to the issue confronting them.
Participation:
Each table will have a representative of the United Nations or UN Agency, a representative of a government that has pledged support to the Millennium Development Goals (Ambassador/Minister/Consul) and eight people, selected as a group to be able to generate a solution for the problem at their table or in dialogue with the other tables. (Example: Village needs a school: building supplies supplier, school supplies supplier, transportation company, etc.)
