MDG Awards Ceremony

The MDG Awards, held annually at the United Nations General Assembly Hall and with satellite events in other nations is a celebration honouring outstanding efforts to achieve the MDGs.

The Awards are presented to shine a spotlight and give greater visibility to the Projects, efforts of NGOs, Corporations, Foundations, Universities and Colleges and Individual efforts to achieve the MDGs. There are nine primary categories, representing each of the eight MDGs with the ninth recognizing projects that impact multiple MDGs (three or more). A tenth important category is "The People's Vote" Voters from across the globe nominate and register their vote for the Individual and Project that they believe should be an MDG Award Recipient.

At each Awards ceremony, when appropriate, up to two Humanitarians are recognized for their Lifetime of Achievement in the Interest of Humanity.

At our launch event Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and Dr. Kevin Cahill, Special Advisor to the 63rd President of the General Assembly and a colleague of Mother Teresa were recipients.

The production team for the MDG Awards includes Direction by , Founder of Zargunda Productions, which has directed many prestigious events, including the Kennedy Center Awards, Imagine Festival of the Arts, multiple events for three Presidents, Pavarotti, the Pope, and UNAids Day. The Executive Producer is , Founder of Humanitad Foundation. His production team has produced some of the most recognized and most viewed events in the world, including the Great China Wall Concert, Live Aid, Sports Aid, the Oscars and the Millennium Telecast.
